Prospect - Mr. Joseph R. Zdanowicz, age 84, of 28 Chandler Drive, died Monday September 27,2010 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the loving husband of Dolores (Lupkas) Zdanowicz for 60 years.
Mr. Zdanowicz was born in Waterbury on March 26,1926 a son of the late John and Veronica (Sapotivich) Zdanowicz. He was retired as a detective from the Connecticut State Police where he worked from 1955 until 1978 and also formerly served as the Resident State Trooper for the Town of Prospect. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Prospect and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer.
Mr. Zdanowicz is a U.S. Army veteran having served as a Sargeant in Okinawa during World War II.
Besides his wife, Mr. Zdanowicz is survived by a son: Joseph Zdanowicz and his wife Marie of Bethany, two daughters: Janet Zdanowicz of Prospect and Carol Gillen and her husband Todd of Higganum, two sisters: Terri Kiesel of Prospect and Estelle Porto of Waterbury and a grandson: Aidan Gillen. He was predeceased by a brother: John Zdanowicz.
The funeral will be held on Thursday September 30,2010 at 9:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 26 Waterbury Rd. Route 69 Prospect to St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church 4 Union City Rd. Prospect for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be in Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday September 29,2010 from 5 to 8 p.m.
