Dolores Wood

Oakville, CT Dolores Rita (Karvelis) Wood, 92, wife of William W. Wood, Jr., died peacefully January 10, 2022 at Waterbury Hospital.

Dolores was born July 1, 1929 in Waterbury, CT daughter of the late Justin and Helen (Mendle) Karvelis. Dolores was raised in Waterbury where she attended local schools and graduated from Crosby High School. She retired in 1994 after working for 30 years as a quality controller at Heminway & Bartlett and she was also the Treasurer for the Watertown Credit Union. Dolores enjoyed collecting various items, especially dolls.

In addition to William, her husband of 72 years, Dolores is survived by her son, William W. Wood, III and her daughter in law, Judy Wood both of South Carolina; her sister, Marlene Reeser of Oakville, CT and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Dolores was predeceased by her sisters, Gina Rock and Edna Piel and her brother, Edward Karvelis.

Services will be private and held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
