Naugatuck, CT Savanna Rose Winters, 36, died unexpectedly on December 6, 2023 at Waterbury Hospital.
Savanna was born March 25, 1987 in Waterbury, CT a daughter of Robert Winters and Rose (Doyle) Winters and had lived in Naugatuck for most of her life. Savanna graduated from Naugatuck High School in 2005 and for the past 15 years she was a dedicated home care giver, who enjoyed working with and caring for her patients. She will be remembered for her distinctive laugh, her speedy way of talking and her tomboy spirit as a little girl, playing Pop Warner Football with the boys in Elementary School. She was fondly given the nickname "Vanna Banana" as a child and her favorite thing in life was to spend time with her family, especially at the Holidays. She loved her family and she was a proud member of the Native American Hopi Tribe of Arizona. Savanna was awarded the Young Hero Award in April 1999 at age 12, from the Naugatuck Police Department for saving her brother Daniels life in a backyard accident. For that her family will forever be grateful.
Savanna is survived by her son, Richard “Paulie” Klies; her father, Robert Winters of Waterbury, CT; her mother, Rose Winters of Southington, CT; her sister, Roberta Winters-Maldonado and her husband, Jimmy of Woodbury, CT; her brothers, Daniel Winters and his wife, Corin and Anthony Winters all of Waterbury, CT; her niece, Kamryn; her nephews, Taydan, Brennan, Gabriel, Kaleb and Rowan; her paternal grandmother, Valma Bennett of Utah and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Savanna was predeceased by her grandparents, Debra Ash and Richard Ash.
Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Savanna’s life on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
