CHESHIRE - Wilson "Bill" R. Grime, 85, passed away Monday November 1, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving daughters. He was the husband of the late Sharon (Eklund) Grime.
Mr. Grime was born February 12, 1926 in New Haven the son of the late Charles and Hazel (Wilson) Grime. He was a WWII Army Air Force Veteran where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion and WWII Army Air Force roundtable. He was a longtime Cheshire resident where he was active on the Park and Recreation and Planning and Zoning Commissions and was a fifty plus year member of the First Congregation Church of Cheshire. He also was active with the Cheshire retired Men's Club.
Mr. Grime was employed at Bristol Babcock for 37 years until his retirement in 1987. He served as a volunteer at the Bradley Air Museum as a tour guide. He was active with the Cheshire Masonic Temple Lodge No. 16 where he was recognized for 50 years of membership. He was an avid stamp collector and Jazz enthusiast as well as an avid Red Sox and UCONN basketball and football fan. He was known for his love of gardening.
Mr. Grime enjoyed spending Christmas and the Fourth of July with his family in Dorset, VT over the past 40 years.
Mr. Grime is survived by his daughters Cheryl of Plantsville and Karen of Cheshire; his brother Charles and his wife Bev of Durham; his sister Anne Messmer and her husband Donald of San Diego, CA; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Janet Grime Wallace.
Arrangements - A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Dr. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Friends will be received Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the start of the service at 11 at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association 5 Brookside Dr. P.O. Box 5022, Wallingford, CT 06492 or to the First Congregational Church, 111 Church Dr., Cheshire, CT 06410. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
