Essie Wilson

Naugatuck, CT Essie (Taylor) Wilson, 89, died peacefully on December 13, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Essie was the widow of Fred Wilson, whom she was married to for 26 years.

Essie was born July 10, 1935 in Aiken, SC daughter of the late Booker T. and Evelyn (McCreary) Taylor. Essie lived in New York State for many years and retired from Creedmoor State Hospital in 1999, after working for 32 years as a nursing assistant.

Essie is survived by her daughter and son in law, Beverly and Nathaniel Robinson; her grandson, Jamel Robinson; her granddaughter, Ebony Williams and her husband, Damon Williams; her granddaughter, Brittany Shanks all of Naugatuck, CT; her grandson, Lamont Fyne of West Palm Beach, FL; her grandson, Freddie Wilson of Auburn, NY; her grandson, Kenneth Robinson of Albany, NY; her great grandkids, Jada, Jashua, Jaden, Ariana, Amaius, Damon Jr. and Braelynn; her sisters, Lillie Dunn of Rochdale, NY and Christie Brown of Hempstead, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Essie was predeceased by her daughter, Sharon Wilson; her sons, Freddie Wilson and Kenneth Wilson; her brothers, Booker T. Taylor, Jr. and James Taylor and her sister.

Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Essie’s life on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 6:00 to 7:00pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck, CT.
