NAUGATUCK - Paul Arthur Williams, 76, formerly of Ash Road, passed away on April 2, 2013, after a long illness.
He was born in 1937 in Waterbury to the late Edward and Alice (Heroux) Williams. A lifelong resident of Naugatuck, he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Ann (Brunelle) Williams.
He also leaves their children, Joyce (wife of Greg Lyon of Ypsilanti, Mich.), Paul, Andy and Cathy Durante (wife of Kevin Durante of Naugatuck), and four grandchildren.
A Naugatuck High School graduate, Paul worked at Uniroyal Chemical, starting in the mailroom in 1956 and moving up to lab technician until he retired in 1997. He also served eight years in the U.S. Navy Reserves.
Paul enjoyed gardening and oil painting. He was well read, staying up to date on current events through books, TV, and news magazines. He loved discussing politics.
A Catholic Mass will be said in his honor at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, is in charge of the arrangements.
