WALLINGFORD - William "Bill" Tammone, 95, beloved husband of Victoria (sciotto) Tammone, passed away Monday March 19, 2012 at Masonicare of Wallingford. Bill and Vickie were married for 69 years. William is survived by his daughter Loretta "Lori" Molnar and her husband Tom of Cheshire; twin sons William Tammone and his wife Linda of Lindenhurst, NY and Richard Tammone and his wife Mollie of Fallbrook, CA; as well as his siblings Michalina Casale and Victor Tammone; five grandchildren and spouses; six great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Bill, the oldest of ten children, grew up in East Harlem, NY, the son of Italian immigrants Michael and Antoinette (DiDio) Tammone. Bill actively participated from a young age in the Boys Club of New York. Bill competed as a swimmer, diver and intrack events. He excelled in boxing and earned a Golden Gloves record of 15-1, proven on his Amateur Athletic Union Membership card. He enjoyed golfing an spent many summers as a caddy on Fisher's Island, NY. Bill and Vickie raised their family in Lindenhurst, NY. He worked at Sperry Gyroscope for40 years, beginning as a drill press operator and ending his career as a Quality Inspector.
Bill will be most remembered for his positive personality, friendly and calm demeanor, and a genuine passion for life. He danced, laughed, loved, and enjoyed his large Italian family and truly left a memorable impression on all people he met throughout his journey. Bill will be missed but always cherished as a protective and caring Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and friend.
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 14, 2012 at 12:30 at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held on the 14th from 11:30 until the start of the service. Memorial contributions in Mr. Tammone's name may be made to the Boys Club of New York, 287 East 10th St., New York, NY 10009 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy. Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
