William Stephenson

CHESHIRE-William "Bill" A. Stephenson, 63, of Cheshire passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.

Bill was born on March 31, 1947 in Lawrence, MA and was the son of the late Fred R. and Isabel (Taylor) Stephenson. He was a Plastics Engineer graduate of Lowell Technological Institute, in Lowell, MA, and obtained his MBA from the University of Hartford.

Bill started work for Uniroyal Chemical in Naugatuck in 1968 in the chemical labs. Throughout his long career at Uniroyal (now Chemtura) he held many positions that took him and his family to different locations across the country. He traveled extensively around the world made many friends and was highly regarded by his peers. He ended his career back at the corporate offices in Oxford and retired as Executive Vice President of Performance Chemicals in 2004.

Bill spent his retirement years doing what he loved most; golfing and spending winters in Florida.

Bill will be missed by his close friends who helped him during his last difficult months and by his family; a son Todd and his wife Ivette Stephenson of Hamden; daughter Tracey and her husband David Clary and granddaughter Saige of Houston, TX, a sister Janet and her husband Jim Whittaker of Corona, CA.

Arrangements- A celebration of life for Bill will be held Friday, April 23, 2010 at The Farms Country Club, 180 Cheshire Road, Wallingford, 06492, from 11 A.M to 2 P.M. Calling hours will be held Thursday April 22, 2010 from 5 to 8 P.M at The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial Contributions in Bill's name may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
