Cheshire - William R. Mauhs, passed away on July 31, 2009 surrounded by his loving family after a 6 year long battle with cancer.
Mr. Mauhs was born in New Haven, CT. on May 16, 1953 to the late William Balsam Mauhs and Geraldine Elizabeth (Kusterer) Mauhs. He grew up in Hamden and was a 1972 Hamden High School Graduate. He was an employee for Federal Express for over 21 years. He actively participated in the annual Hamden/North Haven Relay 4 Life at Quinnipiac University. He is a friend to many and loved by all.

He was the father of four: William R. Mauhs Jr. of Cheshire, Jennifer Mohr of East Lyme, Dana Buice of Meriden and the late Barry Sean Gurath. He leaves behind three sisters Geri Mauhs of Hamden, Ella Mauhs of Guilford, Diane Rodican of Levittown, Pa; Uncle Fred Kusterer of Gardner, Me; Nieces and Nephews Jack Rodican of West Haven, Chris Rodican of Levittown, Pa, Connor Nicholls of Hamden, William Protzman of Hamden, and Libby Protzman of Guilford; two grand children Amber Mohr of East Lyme, Jarrod Buice Jr. of Meriden; son in law Jarrod Buice of Meriden and his loving feline companion Tigger Mauhs.
Arrangements ' Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 4, 2009 10:15 from the Slater Funeral Home, 242 S. Main St., Cheshire to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 830 Whitney Ave., New Haven for services at 11 a.m. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
