William W. 'Tiger' Cleary, Jr., age 73 entered into rest on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 after a long illness at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. William was born January 31, 1941 in Waterbury, son of the late Harriet S. Lee Cleary and William W. Cleary, Sr. and was a lifelong Waterbury resident.
William attended Wilby High School where he earned his nickname 'Tiger' Cleary for his performance with the football team. Before his retirement he was employed with Allstate Tire Company.
He is survived by his sister Maureen Cleary of Torrington; his brothers; Michael Cleary and his wife Nancy of Waterbury, Kevin Cleary of Waterbury, Peter Cleary of Waterbury and Patrick Cleary of Delaware. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his brothers; Shaun and Brian Cleary and his sisters; Margaret Toruk and Harriet Cleary.
William's funeral procession will leave the Mulville Funeral Home, 270 West Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06702 on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 9:30AM for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10AM at The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main Street, Waterbury. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home on Monday morning from 8AM to 9:30AM. His burial will be private and at the convenience of his family at their family plot in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. At the request of his family, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
