William 'Bill' Scanlon

WATERTOWN- William "Bill" Scanlon, 84, passed away Thursday December 27, 2012 in the VITAS unit of St. Mary's Hospital. He was the loving husband of Kathleen (Mullin) Scanlon.

Bill was born April 2, 1928 in Waterbury, son of the late Martin Joseph and Margaret (Collins) Scanlon.

He attended and graduated from Sprague School and Leavenworth High School in Waterbury. Bill was a veteran proudly serving for the United States Navy during World War II where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was an employee of Pratt and Whitney for thirty five years retiring in 1992.

Bill was a communicant of The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. He also was a member of the VFW Post 5157 in Watertown, the American Legion Post 195 in Oakville, and the Knights of Columbus.

Besides his wife he is survived by three sons Jeffrey and his wife Marie Scanlon of Waterbury, Timothy and his wife Kathryn Scanlon of Wolcott, and William K. and his wife Andrea Scanlon of Boston, MA; a brother Martin J. and his wife Sally Scanlon of Southington; two sisters Carol and her husband Jim Lombardi of Waterbury, and Patricia and her husband Arthur Palombo of Waterbury; two sister in laws Peg Maynard and Patricia Mullin; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and seventeen nieces and nephews.

Arrangements- A Mass of Christian Burial for Bill will be held 11 A.M Wednesday January 2, 2013 at The Church of the Nativity, 48 East Street Bethlehem, CT 06751. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will Military Honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Private calling hours for the family will be held from 9 A.M until the procession leaves for church. Donations in his name may be made to The Church of the Nativity, 48 East Street Bethlehem, CT 06751.
