Mr. Wayne Thomas Twerian, 61, of 65 Amanda Lane, Naugatuck, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 10, 2009 at his home. He was the husband of Irene (Wiazowski) Twerian.
Mr. Twerian was born in Derby, Nov. 28, 1947, a son of the late Stanley and Lillian (Dillis) Twerian and moved to Naugatuck in 1973 coming from Ansonia. He was a graduate of Assumption School in Ansonia and was a graduate of Ansonia High School, Class of 1965, where he played Football for three years. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart University, class of 1970, were he was a member of Sigma Eta Upsilon Fraternity, and received his Masters degree and 6th year certificate from Southern Conn. State University in Administration/Supervision in 1981 He was a teacher at Watertown High School for over 35 years, where he taught Biology, Chemistry and Conservation, retiring in 2005. He was also an Adjunct instructor at Naugatuck Valley Community College for 5 years.
He was a member of the Wes Con Hog Motorcycle Club, where he served as Photographer and Historian. He was also an active member of the Bristol Lodge # 1010, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, participating in their Golf and Card leagues. He was also a member of the Sierra Club. Locally, he was a member of the "Community for a Horticultural Environment", and a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Besides his wife of 35 years, he leaves one son, Wade C. Twerian of Wallingford; one daughter Karen A. Twerian of Naugatuck; one sister, Susan Greene of Oxford; one grandson, Sean Michael Twerian of Naugatuck and a niece, Elizabeth Green and a nephew Andrew Greene
His funeral will be held on Monday, Jan.19, 2009, 10:15 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral Home on Sunday, Jan 18, 2009, from 3 to 7 p.m. Members of the Bristol Lodge of Elks will conduct a Session of Sorrow at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Sunday
