CHESHIRE - Walter E. “Butch” Hanover, 53, passed away on January 15, 2020 at his home in Cheshire, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband to Susan (Biancarelli) Hanover.
Butch was born August 29, 1967 in New Haven. He is the son of Walter R. and Susan (Shea) Hanover. In addition to his wife, Butch is survived by his son, Zachery Hanover of Austin, TX, his daughter Riley Hanover of Cheshire and his sister and brother-in-law Kerry & Randy Pelletier of Cheshire, along with his two nieces, Alexandra and Paige Pelletier. He also leaves behind his in-laws, George and Lynn Biancarelli, his sister-in-law, Michele Weston and her husband, Keith, and their children, Devon, Vinny and Jack.
He was a self-employed home improvement contractor and painter. He attended Cheshire High School, Class of ’86 where he was a member of the varsity ice hockey team and then went on to graduate from Quinnipiac University, Class of ’91. Butch enjoyed all sports throughout the years as well as coaching his daughters softball team. He was an avid fan of Quinnipiac University Ice Hockey. Butch devoted himself to living life to the fullest and had an amazing network of friends which all stemmed from Norton Elementary School. During his illness, he stayed in contact with everyone and let them know how important they all were in his life. He cherished each one and had stories that could last a lifetime. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. In memory of Butch - SMILE!
Arrangements – A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 A.M, on Friday, January 22, 2021 at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish / St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St. Cheshire. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street. Due to current restrictions, burial, along with a celebration of his life with his family and friends, is planned for later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cheshire Community Food Pantry, 175 Sandbank Rd, Cheshire, CT 06410.
