CHESHIRE - Vladas "Wally" Bernotas, 87, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013, at Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden following a brief illness. He will be joining his beloved wife Mary (Mazie) who predeceased him in 1991.
Mr. Bernotas was born October 7, 1925, in Lithuania. He emigrated with his family from England in 1967 to work at Consolidated Industries in Cheshire before working at Ideal Forge Manufacturing as a Drop Forger before retiring in 1990. He was wonderful with his hands and found pleasure in building anything from basic projects to machines. In his youth he enjoyed motorcycles, ballroom dancing and was known for his way with his pets.
He is survived by his son John Bernotas and his longtime companion Claudia Moffat of Illinois; his daughter Shauna Bartlett and her husband Tom of Cheshire; his sisters Lena and Mary; his grandchildren Thomas and Katie Bartlett; and several Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Albert.
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 12, 2013, 9:15 from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St., to St. Bridget Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 -7p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice in his memory.
