WATERBURY- Mrs. Violet "Vi" Christine (Stroberg) Beach, formerly of Waterbury, passed away at the Middlebury Convalescent Home after celebrating 101 years of a rich and full life on Monday evening Jan. 28, 2013. She was the widow of Lloyd D. "Dud" Beach, whom she married in 1930.
Mrs. Beach was born in Naugatuck, August 22, 1911, a daughter of the late Oscar and Meta (Jensen) Stroberg. Violet attended Crosby High School and Post College and was a former employee of M.A. Green Jewelers. A passionate and engaging person, Violet was a friend to many and a gifted artist. She adored her 13 great grandchildren, spending hours playing card games with them as young children. She was the oldest member of the Bunker Hill Congregational Church.
Violet is survived by her loving daughter, Joan (Beach) Veillette and her husband Robert, her grandchildren, Beverly Canning, Steven Sheehy, Roberta Daly, Carol Carver, Kevin Temple, Colleen Lynch, and John Oliver and her 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Bonna (Beach) Oliver and 2 grandsons, Richard Sheehy and James Oliver and her sister, Ruth Kerner and brothers, Vincent and Edward Stroberg.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Southmayd Home and the Middlebury Convalescent Home for their loving care of Violet.
Funeral services will be held on Friday Feb. 1, 2013 at 10 am at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. Burial will be in the spring in Riverside Cemetery, Waterbury. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 9:30 am on Friday.
