Naugatuck, CT Frederico A. Valente, 82, husband of Ilda (Aresta) Valente, died peacefully on November 17, 2019 at Griffin Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Frederico was born on March 10, 1937 in Pardilho, Portugal a son of the late Jose R. and Carminda (Amador) Valente. He lived in Naugatuck since 1962 and retired as a foreman from L.G. DeFelice Construction Company. He was a faithful and hard working parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church and was involved with the building of the church. He was a member of Clube Uniao Portuguesa where he served as a member of the Sao Paio Committee, the renovation committee and proudly served as Naugatuck’s Mayor for the Day.

In addition to Ilda, his wife of 57 years, Frederico is survived by his sons, David J. Valente and his wife, Katie; Frederick S. Valente and Edward J. Valente and his wife, Melissa; his grandchildren, Arianne, Courtney, Alexio, Samantha, Rachel, Timothy and Kimberly; his great grandchildren, Connor and Jackson; his brother, Jose Alberto Valente; his sisters, Maria Elaine Fonseca and Maria Ercilia Almeida and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Frederico was predeceased by his brother, Carlos Valente and his sister, Lucilia Fonseca.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury. Everyone attending is kindly asked to meet at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Thursday from 6-8pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
