Barbara Jane (Dickens) Tucker of 65 Eldridge Street, Waterbury died on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born October 26, 1920 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Laurence A. and Madeleine C. (Menold) Dickens. She was the widow of James F. Tucker, Sr. She was a communicant of The Basilica of The Immaculate Conception Church. Mrs. Tucker worked as a secretary for many years retiring in October of 1993.

She leaves two children; Cynthia Strong and her husband John of Delray Beach, FL, a son, James F. Tucker, Jr. of Waterbury.

Her son Michael Joseph Tucker (who is greatly missed) predeceased her on April 10, 2006. Mrs. Tucker further leaves a daughter in law Carolyn Csengo Tucker of Waterbury, a cousin Peggy Dickens Gondor of Stratford. Additionally she leaves five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends. Her granddaughter Stacy Anne Strong of Delray Beach Florida predeceased her; the result of an accident. Her brother Laurence Charles Dickens and his son, Little Larry of Cheshire also predeceased her.

The funeral will be held on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 10:15 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Rd, Rte. 69, Prospect to St. Anthony's of Padua Church, 49 South Street, Litchfield for a mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Old St. Joseph's Cemetery in Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m.
