Loving husband, father and grandfather

LAS VEGAS, NV – William Harold “Bill” Tripp, 80, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, November 1, 2021. He was the loving husband of Hedi Molitor-Tripp.

Bill was born July 17, 1941, in Waterbury, the second son of Ann (Yesunas) and Ralph Allen Tripp. He grew up in Naugatuck and graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1959. Upon graduation Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served for 23 years. Among the commendations he received were the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal.

After retiring he worked as a Service Manager at Henrick Chevrolet in Naugatuck and as a Pro Shop Manager at Watertown Golf Club. He moved to Las Vegas, NV in 2016 where he passed away.

Bill loved sports, Elvis Presley, and spending time with his friends and family. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, and played softball for most of his life. He served on the Fire Commission in Naugatuck and volunteered for civic organizations throughout his life. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor and brought joy to all who knew him through his caring nature and generosity. Family and friends were the center of Bill’s world.

Besides his wife Hedi, Bill is survived by his children, Daniel Molitor of Las Vegas, NV, Jeffrey Tripp of Honolulu, HI, Michelle Sanders of Bismarck, ND, and Christopher Tripp of Seoul, South Korea. Also left to mourn his loss are his seven grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by his brother, Ralph Allen Tripp.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held May 28, 2022. Graveside Services with Military Honors accorded will be Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 10:00am at St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck, CT. Everyone attending is asked to please meet directly at the cemetery. There are no calling hours and local arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
