Tina Susanne Swezey, 70, of Cheshire, CT passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023, at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden, CT, surrounded by close family. She was born on December 13, 1952, in New Haven, CT, to Louisa Gough and the late Donald Gough. She attended North Haven High School with the class of 1971. Tina was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Tina was a proud nutritionist and "Lunch Lady" at Norton Elementary School and Cheshire High School for many years, often showing up in a festive costume or hat, and always with a welcoming smile. She cared deeply for the students she served and was highly involved in all her children's and grandchildren's activities. Between dance studios, marching band shows, lacrosse games, and sports fields, Tina actively participated in supporting each event in her own, special way. She devoted much free time as a skilled seamstress who hand-crafted countless dance costumes, stage props, uniforms, and marching band flags over the years. Additionally, she loved attending and participating in the North Haven Fair and Garden Club activities with her mom, Lois.
She was known for her feisty spirit, gentle demeanor, and warm, loving energy. She loved spending time on the beach in Florida, traveling with her family, and attending a variety of shows and local events.
Tina is survived by her former spouse and devoted "life partner in crime," Franklin DeWitt Swezey, Jr. of Cheshire, CT; her daughter Kristin Francis (Swezey) Grasse of Windsor, ME, and son-in-law Timothy Grasse; her son Franklin DeWitt Swezey, III of Cheshire, CT, and daughter-in-law Maria Andrea (Campos) Swezey; her daughter Lynn Anne Swezey of Glastonbury, CT; her mother Louisa (Glennon) Gough of Hamden, CT; her brother Christopher Gough of Lakewood, CO, and sister-in-law Cindy Gough; her brother-in-law Bruce Swezey and family; her grandchildren Cody Grasse, Spenser Grasse, Tori Grasse, Drew Noel, Franklin D. Swezey IV, Miguel Pinos, Sebastian Pinos, and Collin Merritt; and her great-grandchildren Hunter Grasse and Riley Grasse, along with many members of her extended family. Tina was preceded in death by her father Donald Gough, brother Gary Gough, and parents-in-law Franklin D. Sr. and Pauline Swezey.
Tina will be cherished in memories and leaves an indelible mark on this world. We will love and miss you forever.
