WOLCOTT- Thora L. Vander Eyk, 93, passed away peacefully Tuesday October 28, 2014 at Waterbury Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Robert W. Vander Eyk.
She was born July 21, 1921 in New Castle, PA daughter of the late Jim and Myrna (Houston) (Smith) Miller as well as her stepfather Harry Miller.
Thora was a Personnel Manager at Howland Hughes for 39 years prior to her retirement, and served as a Deacon at Mill Plain Union Church. She was interested in Needlework, Cooking, and best known for asking “What can I do to help?”.
She is survived by her son Robert W. and his wife Barbara Vander Eyk of West Haven; a daughter Nancy Ellen Butler of Waterbury; her brother in law Louis and his wife Kathy Vander Eyk Prospect; a grandchild Edward Vander Eyk; several great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces. She was predeceased by her three brothers Walter, Alan, and Clyde Miller.
Arrangements- A Funeral for Thora will be held 11 A.M Friday October 31, 2014 at Mill Plain Union Church, 242 Southmayd Rd, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, 850 Meriden Road, Waterbury, 06705. Calling hours will be held at church from 10 A.M until the service starts.
