Thomas Vincent Quigley, 93, of Cheshire, beloved husband of Margaret Quigley, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2022. Thomas was born on December 27, 1928 in Manhattan, NY to the late Thomas and Bridget Quigley.
Thomas was a proud 1945 graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, NY. He was immediately hired by US Rubber Corporation (now Uniroyal) in Manhattan, where he worked until retirement. He served with dedication in corporate management of transportation operations of goods. In 1951, Thomas enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1952. He graduated from University of New Haven in 1984 with a Bachelor Degree in marketing and finance. Uniroyal hired him again after his retirement to develop another division in the Northeast. After his second retirement, Thomas enjoyed delivering auto parts for Scully’s Auto Parts which kept him out and about in the community.
Thomas was President of St. Francis Xavier Parents Association in Waterbury and a member of Knights of Columbus, also in Waterbury. He was assistant and head baseball coach in Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball. Thomas also played an active role in Cub Scouts as a scout leader.
Thomas was a true family man in every sense of the phrase. He was a kind and caring husband, father and grandfather and was fondly known as “Papa” by the younger generations. Thomas was extremely proud of his Irish Catholic heritage and took many trips to Ireland with his wife Peggy in addition to a family trip. During their retirement, they loved to travel to many places including Rhode Island where he would relax on the beach. Thomas stayed connected with his 5 siblings throughout their adulthood, and enjoyed extended family trips to NYC and Lake Dunmore in Vermont. He shared his love of boating, swimming, fishing, baseball, golf, music and dancing with his family. Thomas left his loved ones with wisdom for family life, obtaining success, having a healthy work ethic along with all his other positive character traits. He had a passion for listening to the weather on the morning radio, grapefruit, Corn Flakes, and evening NY Yankees baseball.
In addition to “his Peggy”, of nearly 71 years of marriage, he leaves behind his children, James M. (Kimberly) Quigley, Jean A. Lentini-DeSantis and Thomas W. (Deirdre) Quigley; grandchildren, Beth (Mark Scott) Lentini, Bryan (Kristin) Lentini, James (Jennifer) Quigley, Sarah (Brian) Gambardella and Eliza (Eric) McAfee; great grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler and Andrew Lentini, Jeremy and Corey Gambardella and Brynn Quigley.
