CHESHIRE - Teresa M. (Civitelli) Funaro, 90, known to most as “Nan” died peacefully July 31, 2015. She was born on April 25, 1925 to Anthony and Teresa (Longo) Civitelli in New Haven CT. She was the widow of John P. Funaro to whom she was married for 60 years.
She was a graduate of Commercial High School in New Haven CT, class of 1943.
She was employed in the auditing dept. of Sears Roebuck until her retirement in 1986.
Teresa loved to sing, often doing so while engaging in another favorite past time of cooking for her family. She was known for her Christmas cookies and made trays for all her loves ones. But most of all she loved every child she ever met. She was born to be a mother.
She leaves behind 2 daughters, Donna Funaro of Cheshire, Kathy and her husband Jerry O’Donnell also of Cheshire, son in law, John MacCallum of East Haven. 3 grandchildren, John D. MacCallum and his wife Cori of Glastonbury, Kaitlyn O’Donnell of Cheshire and Megan Funaro of Millbury, MA; great grandchild, Mallory MacCallum of Glastonbury and a Brother, Arthur Civitelli and his wife Dottie of Cheshire, and many nieces and nephews whom she adored. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Linda F. MacCallum and grandson, Michael J. MacCallum and 8 brothers and sisters.
Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 4, 2015, 10:15 from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. to St. Bridget Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Bridget Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Because of her great love of all children we ask in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either Make a Wish Foundation 126 Monroe Turnpike, Trumbull, CT 06611 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
