NAUGATUCK - Maria Helena Rodrigues Teixeira, 74, died peacefully at home on Monday, April 12, 2010. Maria was born on July 20, 1935, in Redondelo-Chaves, Portugal. She was the daughter of the late Joao and Amelia Rodrigues, of Portugal.
She was devoted to her family, and her happiest times were when she was with them. Maria is survived by her husband of over 57 years, Americo Vaz Teixeira, five daughters and one son; Amelia Esteves, Conceicao Alves, Tina Esteves and Anna Maria Teixeira, all of Naugatuck, Lucille Fontes of Prospect and Antonio Teixeira of Watertown. One daughter, Francisca Dias, predeceased her on February 21, 2010. Maria is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Maria was the sister of Ana Rodrigues of Prospect, Albertina DosSantos of Middlebury; and a brother, Jose Rodrigues of Naugatuck. She was predeceased by a sister, Elisa Alves of Portugal and one brother, Antonio Rodrigues of Naugatuck. She also leaves many in-laws, nieces, nephews, other loved ones and friends.
Maria was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Waterbury. She loved to garden and it showed in the produce that she willingly shared with family and friends. Maria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; we will miss and treasure our memories of her singing and the stories she loved to share with us all.
The funeral will be held on Thursday April 15, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 26 Waterbury Rd. Route 69 Prospect to Our Lady of Fatima Church 2071 Baldwin St. Waterbury for a mass
at10 a.m. Burial will be in St. James cemetery in Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday April 14, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m.
