Emilia Tavares
Naugatuck- Emilia De (daSilva) Tavares, age 102, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Beacon Brook Health Center. She was the widow of Joaquim Tavares, Sr.
Mrs. Tavares was born on March 3, 1907 in Murtosa, Portugal a daughter of the late Gaspar and Maria (daSilva) Esteves.
She is survived by her son, Joaquim "Jack" Tavares Jr.and his wife Ana Maria of Naugatuck, one grandson, Jack Michael Tavares and his wife Jackie (Newmark) of Boca Raton, FL, and two great-granddaughters, Carly Jaden and Farah Emilia Tavares of Boca Raton, FL, four nephews, Miguel "Mike" Esteves of Naugatuck, John and Joseph Esteves of N.J. and Dennis Esteves of PA, three nieces, Amalia Oliveira of F.L., Alice McKeon of N.C. and Julia Santos of Portugal.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck to St. Francis Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck for a mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m.
