PROSPECT- Sydel B. Kugell, 78, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. She was the loving wife of Louis Kugell whom she was married to for 59 years.

Mrs. Kugell was born April 7, 1942 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Meyer and Rebecca (Shore) Bess.

Sydel graduated from Crosby High School and attended Quinnipiac College.

Sydel was an Administrative Assistant for Waterbury Hospital, The Hospital of Central Connecticut, and St. Mary’s Hospital prior to her retirement.

After retirement, Sydel enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends. She also enjoyed playing Mahjong and Canasta with her dear friends.

Sydel will always be known for being fiercely loyal and loving to everyone she knew. She was a loving, supportive and compassionate mom, always there for her daughters, whom she adored so very much. As a friend,she was considered the best of friends by so many. Her warmth and kindness was ever present and she would do anything to help or support a friend in need. She will be missed always and remain in our hearts forever.

Besides her adoring husband, she is survived by three daughters Sharon Silver and her companion Thomas Marmelstein of Deep River, Joanne and her husband Michael Marino of Newington, and Lori Spector of Bridgeport and her companion Gary Newhart, her brother David Bess of West Hartford and his companion Carol Reich, grandchildren Zachary Cohen and his fiancé Patricia Salcedo, Allison Marino, Danielle Marino, and Jonah Spector, and her sister in law Adrienne Bletchman of Avon.

A private graveside service for Sydel will be held at Farband Cemetery in Morris. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Ave, 06704, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Donations in Mrs. Kugell’s name can be made to Jewish Senior Services, 4200 Park Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06604.
