Stephen A. Kavalauskas, 84, of Plantsville, passed away peacefully in Cheshire after a long illness on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Theresa (Smulski) Kavalauskas for 61 years.
Born on May 1, 1933, in New Britain, son of the late Stephen A. and Helen (Glownia) Kavalauskas, he was a veteran of the United States Army and a graduate of the University of Hartford, earning a degree in accounting. Until his retirement, he worked for The Hartford Insurance Company as a corporate accountant in the financial investments department. Stephen was an exceptional athlete in his youth excelling in multiple sports. He loved sports and was a loyal fan of UCONN Women’s Basketball, (March Madness), Alabama College football, The New England Patriots. His true love was his family, he especially enjoyed his grandchildren, any delicious dinner Terry would make, telling stories and playing movie trivia at the holidays.
In addition to his loving wife Theresa, Stephen is survived by his devoted daughter Susan, and her husband James Galullo. He will be greatly missed by his cherished grandchildren, Jennifer (Don) Brechlin, Blake and Alexandra Galullo, and son-in-law Rick Grady and Jen France. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his dear daughter, Karen Grady and his brother, George Kavalauskas.
Arrangements - A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 4, 2017 at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Burial will be private. Friends may call at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Memorial contributions, in Stephen’s name, may be made to the American Lung Association of Ct., 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108-3272 or the American Heart Association, P.O.
