Sophia Sabol

NEWPORT, N.C. – Sophia Sabol, age 93, beloved wife of the late Paul Sabol and former resident of Waterbury, CT, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 1, 2021, at her daughter’s home in North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Sabol was born on March 12, 1927 in Larksville, PA, daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie (Burkowski) Sabola. Sophie was a homemaker whose life was centered around her family and friends. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

Mrs. Sabol is survived by her daughters, Joyce Lemoine of Oakville, CT, and Judy Webb of Newport, NC, and her sons Peter Sabol of Palm Coast, FL, and David Sabol and his wife, Diane, of Morehead, NC and her sister, Theresa Harbaugh of Edwardsville, PA. She will also be missed by her six grandchildren, Amy Johnson, Cathy Barron, Mike (Jenn) Sabol, Brad Sabol, Steve (Bethany) Sabol, Jill (Adam) Martinelli, and her eleven great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sons, Paul (Buzz) Sabol, and Donald Sabol, her brother, Stanley Sabola, and her sisters, Steffie Begliomiri, Loretta Cheek, Helen Perfetto, and Jay Petras.

Arrangements - A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Avenue. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 669 Platt Rd, Watertown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sophie’s memory to The Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
