PROSPECT — John Soden Sr., 89, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011. He was the widower of Ruth Audrey (Dupre) Soden.
Mr. Soden was born on Dec. 4, 1921, in Kilmarnock, Scotland, a son of the late William Black Soden and Jane (Sneddon) Soden. He was retired from CL&P where he worked for many years.
He is survived by three daughters, Ruth M. McCarty and her husband, Daniel, of Leominster, Mass., Margaret Bergeron of Prospect, and Jane Dunn of Cheshire; four sons, John Soden Jr. of Naugatuck, Ronald Soden of Naugatuck, Michael Soden and his wife, Lori, of Southbury, and William Soden of Rougemont, N.C.; a sister, Jean O'Donnell; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Audrey Heston, formerly of Naugatuck.
The funeral will be held 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect, to St. Anthony's Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be in Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
