NAUGATUCK - Norman P. Smith, 97, of 570 Wooster St., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Catherine (Corcoran) Smith.

Mr. Smith was born on Feb. 22, 1913 in Naugatuck, a son of the late Thomas and Marie (Condon) Smith. He was retired from Uniroyal Inc., Chemical Division, where he worked as a technician for more than 45 years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed gardening and reading.

He is survived by one daughter, Linda Love and her husband, Tom, of Naugatuck; one son, James Smith of Rutland, Vt.; one sister, Doris Carle of Orange and one brother, Donald Smith of Wallingford. He also leaves his three grandchildren, Abigail Cervone, Mark Love and Megan Smith; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck to St. Mary's Church, 338 North Main St., Naugatuck for a Mass at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery in Seymour. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
