Shirley Cogle

Shirley (Carlson) Cogle, age 93, of Cheshire entered into rest on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at The Summit at Plantsville. She was the devoted wife of the late Horace Cogle until his passing in 2006. Shirley was born September 18, 1930 in Southington, daughter of the late Raymond and Jennie (Seledyn) Carlson.

Shirley was raised in Southington before coming to Cheshire. She was office manager for Cheshire Convalescent Center as well as owned and operated her own accounting firm. She was a member of the Cheshire Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Shirley and Horace enjoyed traveling, especially throughout New England during the summer months and birding along the way.

She is the beloved mother of Kenneth Scott Cogle of Manchester, Jeffery Robert Cogle of Cheshire and Larry Peter Cogle of Auburn, ME. Shirley is also survived by her cherished grandchildren; Colin and Timmy Cogle, Kayla and Sadie Cogle, her sister Dot Pelto of Kensington, her brother Terry Carlson and several loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Marion and her brother Ralph of Searsport, ME.

Friends may greet her family on Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 1PM until 3PM at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11AM at Cheshire Hillside Cemetery, Wallingford Rd., Cheshire.
