CHESHIRE- Shirley (O’Neill) Accetura, 86, passed away, Wednesday, February 4, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at her residence. She was the widow of the late Francis “Frank” Joseph Accetura.

She was born on December 18, 1928 daughter of the late Eugene and Evelyn O’Neill.

Shirley was a Manager at Connecticut Savings Bank prior to her retirement. She was an amazing artist, an avid gardener, loved watching birds, and spending time in sunny Singer Island with her family. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Bridget Church, and above all a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her three sons Stephen Accetura of Cheshire, Gregory and his wife Lori Accetura of Hamden, and Paul Accetura of Golden, CO; two grandchildren McKala Accetura of Staten Island, NY, and John Accetura of Clinton; her daughter in law Suzanne and her husband Gary Kroeber of Meriden. Shirley was predeceased by her son Michael Accetura, and her sister Jean Leary.

Shirley’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Carolyn Robinson, Shirley’s caregiver for four years.

Arrangements- Mrs. Accetura’s funeral will be held 9:45 A.M Saturday, February 7, 2014 from The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, 06410, and proceed to St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire, 06410 for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Road, Cheshire. Calling hours will be held Saturday morning from 8:30 AM until the procession leaves for church. Donations in her name may be made to St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410.
