WATERBURY- Shirley A. Hansen, 81, passed away Tuesday December 29, 2015 in the V.I.T.A.S unit of St. Mary’s Hospital.
Ms. Hansen was born February 28, 1934 in Dearborn, MI daughter of the late David and Elvira (Kelly) Diggetts.
Shirley was a Payroll Accountant for MacDermid Industrial prior to her retirement. Ms. Hansen was a member of the Goodwill Chapter of Eastern Star, the Watertown Golf Club where she also served as President of the Women’s Assocation, and won the 1995 Women’s Club Championship, and a parishioner, and former Treasurer of the South Congregational Church where she sang in the Choir.
Shirley’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and the V.I.T.A.S unit for the care and compassion they showed Ms. Hansen in her final days.
She is survived by her two nephews Jay Diggetts of Waterbury, and Jon Diggetts of Hattiesburg, MS; a grandniece Kaila Diggetts of Waterbury; her dear friend and caregiver Maria DiMasso of Waterbury; and her sister in law Zita Diggetts Hattiesburg, MS. She was predeceased by her brother James Diggetts.
Arrangements- Ms. Hansen’s funeral will be held 10 A.M, Thursday January 7, 2016, at the South Congregational Church, 160 Piedmont St, Waterbury, CT 06706. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, 06710 is assisting with the arrangements.
