Wallingford - Seymour T. Krechevsky, 87, formerly of West Hartford, beloved husband of Annette (Nan) for 64 years, died peacefully at Masonicare in Wallingford on Saturday, December 16, 2017, with his family by his side.
Born in Hartford, he was the youngest child of Morris and Anna (Levine) Krechevsky. He was a graduate of Weaver High School, where he excelled as a pitcher on the baseball team. He attended Syracuse University, where he was a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha fraternity, and graduated cum laude with a degree in Political Science in 1952. A year later, he married his high school sweetheart, Annette Krasner, and the couple moved to Boston, where he attended Harvard Law School and was awarded his law degree in 1955.
Following graduation, Tim, as he was known to family and friends, took over managing the family business, Kay Petroleum Corporation, an oil distributorship in East Hartford. After the company was sold, he passed the civil service exam and was hired by the Internal Revenue Service as an estate tax examiner, starting in January 1965, a position he would hold until his retirement 41 years later in January 2006.
Tim received numerous plaudits from his superiors for his performance, ingenuity and resourcefulness, as well as for his organization, precision, compassion and exemplary professionalism as an attorney for the IRS. He also received several citations for suggesting changes to or clarifications of tax rules and regulations.
An avid and accomplished tennis player, Tim regularly played at the Suburban Swim and Racquet Club in Bloomfield and the Bloomfield Tennis Club, and continued to play into his early 80s.
In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, he leaves four children: Lauren Lang and her partner, Aaron Kaplowitz, of Plantsville, CT; Marla Chaet and her fiancé, David Mella, of Port Saint Lucie, FLA; David Krechevsky and his wife, Katherine, of Wallingford, CT, and Carin Shockey of Greencastle, PA. He also leaves nine grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Miriam Berson of Avon, and brothers Herbert Krechevsky of West Hartford and the Hon. Robert L. Krechevsky of West Hartford.
The Krechevsky family would like to express our eternal gratitude to the Hospice staff at Masonicare ACU and Hartford HealthCare, and especially to the staff of Mulberry Gardens for their expertise, assistance and compassion.
