Sebastian "Sebby" R. Giarratana

Sebastian “Sebby” R. Giarratana, 82, of Cheshire, beloved husband of Lynda Trocchio Giarratana, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025. Sebby was born on April 18, 1942 in New Britain, CT, the son of the late Sebastian and Carmela Giarratana.

Sebby graduated from New Britain High School, class of 1960. He worked for U.S. Repeating Arms Company in New Haven from 1988 until they shut down in 2006. He then attended culinary school, perfecting his passion of cooking. Sebby took that passion to Dodd Elementary School in Cheshire serving lunches as a chef until 2020.

Sebby was a musician for 38 years, and was part of the band The Guest Appearance. He was their lead singer as well as played the accordion and synthesizer. He enjoyed photography, snapping photos of mother nature, animals and flowers. Sebby frequented flea markets, always on the hunt for more fishing equipment. Above all of his hobbies, fishing was his favorite.

In addition to his wife, Lynda, Sebby leaves his children, David Giarratana, Michael Giarratana, Corine (Dave) McGrath and Kevin (Kristin) Giarratana; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Connie Rady; siblings-in-law, Michael, Susan and Sheryl Trocchio; and many other extended family members. He was predeceased by his brother, Carmen Giarratana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 12 p.m. at St. Bridget of Sweden Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire, CT. Burial will be privately held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
