PROSPECT — Mr. Thomas Joseph Scully, age 70, of Prospect, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband for 41 years of Linda (Cocchiola) Scully.
Mr. Scully was born in Waterbury on July 1, 1942, a son of the late William and Alice (Doyle) Scully. He was retired for many years from the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation, and was a communicant of St Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Prospect.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, an avid bowler, NASCAR fan and Boston Red Sox fan. He enjoyed working on his antique lawn mower, spending time with his grandchildren and family, and attending auto racing events.
Tom enjoyed life and made everyone laugh, even during the worst of times as he fought his courageous battle. He will be missed by his family and friends and will live in their hearts forever.
Besides his wife, Mr. Scully is survived by a daughter, Shannon Legassey and her husband, Jeremy, of Terryville; two grandchildren, Jeremy Jr. and Aiden; three brothers, William Scully of Waterbury, Patrick Scully of Naugatuck, and James Scully of Naugatuck; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Scully's family would like to thank Carla, his nurse, and Pam, his aide, for the wonderful care that they provided.
The funeral will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect, to St Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect, for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at the funeral home.
