Loretta Schebell

Windsor, CT Loretta Marie Schebell, 88, formerly of Naugatuck, CT, died peacefully
surrounded by her beloved family on December 15, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in
Hartford.

Loretta was born December 1, 1935 in New Haven, CT daughter of the late Michael and
Philomena Pascucelli. She grew up in West Haven where she graduated from West
Haven High School. Loretta went on to get her degree from Grace School of Nursing in
New Haven and began her career as an operating room nurse at Yale New Haven
Hospital. She continued working in various fields of nursing for over 35 years before
retiring. Her compassion for people made her an exceptional nurse and caregiver.

Loretta played classical piano and filled her home with music. She enjoyed gardening
and nature and her love of art inspired her to be a painter. Loretta also enjoyed cooking
and baking for family and friends but most of all she loved her children, friends and
family and looked forward to spending time with them. Loretta had a wonderful sense
of humor that made all of us laugh. We will miss that most about her.

Loretta is survived by her daughter, Janet Pellegrino and her husband, Joseph Pellegrino,
Jr.; son, Mark Schebell and his wife, Diane; daughter, Kathleen Schebell; son, Gary
Schebell and her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her
parents, Loretta was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond and Michael.

Loretta’s memory will live on through the many friends and family whose lives she
touched. Her sweet and gentle way will be remembered and cherished as well as the
kindness she showed to all who knew her.

Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Loretta’s life on Wednesday,
December 20, 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00pm, with a service immediately following at
12:00pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue,
Naugatuck, CT. Burial will be announced.
