BRISTOL — Edith (Cain) Saunders, 83, formerly of Waterbury, passed away on June 20, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Saunders was born on Jan. 2, 1930, in Walterboro, S.C., a daughter of the late Benjamin Cain and Inez (Carter) Cain. She was a supervisor of the assembly line for Uniroyal and was sent to Bogota, South America to assist with the opening of a plant. Edith also was a machinist for Pratt & Whitney before her retirement. She was extremely active within her church and was a lifetime missionary.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Collins of Plainville, and her adoptive daughters, Diane Raimo of Waterbury and Kyle Carrillo of Plainville; and one brother, Leroy Cain of Albany, Ga. She will also be missed by her six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Jacelyn and Dennis Mitchell favored their aunt greatly. Edith also has a large extended family which includes her beloved pet dog, Ford. She was predeceased by one son, Charles Saunders, two sisters, and six brothers.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church, 82-100 Pearl St., Waterbury. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
