Saul H. Slone

Saul Harris Slone, age 99, formerly of New Milford, CT and Scottsdale, AZ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Cheshire Regional Rehabilitation Center. He was the devoted husband of the late Marion “Babbee” (Lerner) Slone. Saul was born on June 10, 1916 in New Haven, son of the late Samuel and Ida Slonimsky.

Saul graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven, the UConn School of Pharmacy and received his MA from Columbia University in Hospital Administration. He and his brothers owned and operated the Slone Pharmacy in New Milford, later Saul served as Administrator of the New Milford Hospital and he was a founding member of Temple Sholom in New Milford. Following his move out West, he pursued his career in the Art of Sculpture at Arizona State University.

He is survived by his three loving children, William Slone and his wife, Barbara of Cheshire; Linda Schissler and her husband, Henry of Milford; and Richard Slone and his wife, Genie of Bridgewater; his cherished grandchildren; Amanda Slone, Gregory Slone, Erica Anderson, Michael Aronson, Jennifer Aronson, Eric Slone, Erin Slone-Gomez and Christopher Savulis, 12 great grandchildren and his brother, Benjamin Slone. Saul was predeceased by his brother, Julian Slone.

His family will celebrate his life privately. At the request of his family, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire has been entrusted with his arrangements.
