CHESHIRE - It is with great sorrow that the family of Salvatore J. Settembri, 88, announces his passing on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the loving husband of Josephine M. (Addazio) Settembri.
Mr. Settembri was born December 22, 1928 in Meriden, the son of the late Domenick and Elizabeth (Wiley) Settembri. He was raised in Meriden. Mr. Settembri served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army. When he returned, he was employed by International Silver Co. for over 36 years. Mr. Settembri was the last employee to work at International Silver Co. prior to its closing. He was a communicant of St. Thomas Becket Church and prior to his move to Cheshire 15 years ago, he was a Waterbury resident.
He will be remembered for his never-ending devotion to his family, his unwavering kindness,and gentle nature. He was a man of upmost integrity, honesty and selflessness; and acted with these values everyday of his life. He could fix anything. He loved to paint and work in his garden. Some of his most cherished memories were spent working with his daughter, Sally, in her pasta shop, Villarina’s, in Cheshire. The customers loved seeing him as much as he loved being there.
Besides his wife of 66 years, Mr. Settembri is survived by his daughters Elizabeth Bacchiocchi and her husband Orfeo of FL, Sally Velcofsky and her husband Peter of Cheshire, Marianne Wiese and her husband Kurt of Southington, Barbara Johnson and her husband Paul of CA; his sister Catherine Belcourt of Meriden; his brother Ralph Settembri of West Hartford; his grandchildren Amanda & Sarah Bacchiocchi, Zachary, Emma & Hanna Velcofsky, Rachel Urso,Jeanette Wiese, and Faye & Tess Johnson. He is predeceased by his sisters Mary, Jeanette and Theresa, and his brother Francis.
Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 7, 2017, 10:30 am from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire to St. Thomas Becket Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden. Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home until the funeral procession leaves for church.
