Waterbury, CT- Ruthellen Harkness, formerly of Southbury, CT, Delray Beach, Florida and New York City died Tuesday, October 2, 2013 after a brief illness. She was the widow of Earl Harkness, Chairman and CEO of the former Greenwich Savings Bank in NYC. Mrs. Harkness was born March 1, 1924 the daughter of the late Adolph Aaron Blattner and Mary Kaplan Blattner. Raised in Pittsburgh, she was a graduate of the Winchester Thurston School and then Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Harkness was an interior designer in NY and CT with the famed Sister Parish of NYC. She was also in the insurance business in Manhattan and was a CLU. An active member of St. Peters Church in Cheshire, CT, she was involved in a quilters group, and was a member of the American Needlepoint Guild. Her twin sister Jane Kreimer survives her.
