Ruth McGovern

LEROY, MI- Mrs. Ruth G. McGovern, 98, of 339 Eastland Dr., Leroy, MI, died early Friday evening Jan. 8, 2010 at the Lakeview Lutheran Manor in Cadillac, MI. She was the widow of Edward H. McGovern, Sr. who died in 1994.

Mrs. McGovern was born in Naugatuck, Aug. 11, 1911, a daughter of the Algot and Augusta (Blade) Gabrielson and was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Naugatuck High School. She had been a resident of Naugatuck and Harwinton prior to moving to Michigan 11 years ago. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church and a member of the Rosebud Club.

She leaves three sons, Edward H. McGovern, Jr. of Leroy, MI with whom she made her home, Carl L. McGovern of Salem,SC, and William J. McGovern of Alexandria, VA; one daughter, Claire R. McGovern of Manchester, NH; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday Jan. 15th at Salem Lutheran Church 14 Salem St., Naugatuck. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday Jan. 14th from 5 to 8 pm.
