NAUGATUCK-Mrs. Ruth (Bauer) Curran of Naugatuck, passed away into the arms of the Lord on June 13, 2015, after an extended illness. She was 90 years old. Ruth was born to Catherine and Joseph Bauer on September 9, 1924 and grew up in Oxford, CT graduating from Seymour High School. Mrs. Curran worked at Ponds Company during WWII before moving to Naugatuck, CT when she and Robert Curran were married on May 18, 1946. Mrs. Curran was also an active member of the Red Cross.

Mrs. Curran was predeceased in death by her loving husband Robert Curran and sisters Shirley (Bauer) Metcalf and Alma (Bauer) Piper. Ruth enjoyed traveling with her husband Robert, reading, painting, and gardening. Mrs. Curran is survived by her three children; Father Michael Curran and his wife Paula of Bethlehem, CT; Timothy Curran and his wife Marsha of Naugatuck, CT; and Patricia Gelmini and her husband David of Ormond Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Christopher Curran of Tulsa, OK; Meaghan Curran of Brooklyn, NY; and Amy Reyes of Naugatuck, CT. She also leaves to cherish her memory several nieces and nephews, friends, and her former daughter-in-law Cynthia Dolmas-Curran of Redmond, WA.

Ruth’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the family of nurses and hospice care at Masonicare of Newtown for their loving care of our Mom and their “Tootsie Roll” during her long illness.

Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at a celebration of life service on Wednesday, June 17th at 11:00 A.M. at Christ Episcopal Church of Bethlehem, Village Green 45 Main Street South, Bethlehem, CT 06751. The Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. is assisting the family with the arrangements.
