WATERBURY- Ruth Bellmay Kane, 94, passed away Saturday October 25, 2014 at the Middlebury Convalescent Home. She was the widow of William J. Kane, to whom she was married for sixty-one years.
She was born May 2, 1920 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Nelson H. and Jane (Smith) Bellmay.
Ruth was a 1937 graduate and valedictorian of Wilby High School. Before her retirement, she was a legal secretary for the office of Walter Griffin many years. She also served on the board of directors of the Southmayd Home. In her free time she loved to read, garden and crochet gifts for family and friends.
She is survived by her two sons Jeffrey and his wife Barbara Kane of Sherwood, OR, and Richard and his wife Pamela Kane of Prospect; a daughter Susan Kane of Whitsett, NC; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren She was predeceased by her brothers Nelson, Clifford, Jesse, Edward, and Kenneth Bellmay, and her sister Jane Sadler.
The family extends its gratitude to the staff of the Middlebury Convalescent Home for the loving care they provided Ruth over the past six years.
Arrangements- A Funeral for Ruth will be 11 A.M Tuesday October 28, 2014 at the United Methodist Church of Waterbury, 250 Country Club Road, 06708, where Ruth was a life-long member. Burial will follow in New North Cemetery, Washington Ave, Woodbury. Calling hours will be held at church from 10 A.M until the funeral service begins.
