CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. — Ms. Mary Ann Rung, 82, of Citrus Springs, Fla., formerly of Beacon Falls, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Crystal River Health and Rehabilitation.

Ms. Rung was born in Waterbury, Conn., on April 9, 1929, daughter of the late Irene E. (Skehan) and Edward E. Rung. She was a former Latin teacher at Ansonia and Naugatuck high schools, and spent the better part of her teaching career in the Greenwich, Conn., public school system where she taught Latin, French, Spanish and English for many years. She resided in Stamford, Conn., while employed in Greenwich.

Ms. Rung graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School, Syracuse University and received a master's degree from Fairfield University. In 1989, Ms. Rung retired to Citrus Springs, Fla., where she enjoyed many years in the company of her friends and neighbors and as an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish.

She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Smith of Torrington; two brothers, Edward Rung of Wolcott, and Robert Rung and his wife, Terri, of Naugatuck; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St, Naugatuck. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck is in charge of the arrangements.
