St. Petersburg, FL David Jose Esteves Ruela, Jr., 80, husband of Aurora Carmalina (Garofalo) Ruela and a former Naugatuck and Woodbury, CT resident, died September 9, 2022 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Dave was born November 18, 1941 in Naugatuck, CT, son of the late David Jose Esteves Ruela, Sr. and Florence (Bercado) Ruela. Dave lived in Connecticut for most of his life; was a well-known building and mason contractor and was a member of the local bricklayers union. He lived in Florida for the past 3 years where he was a member of the men’s condominium community club. Dave enjoyed fishing and especially loved being with his family.
In addition to Aurora, his wife of 30 years, Dave is survived by his step-children, Dana Lent (Patricia), David Lent (Kathy) and Valerie Sheldon (Robert); his step-grandchildren, Tannya Poulter (Devin), Matthew Lent (Katie) and Holly Hunt; his step-great grandchildren, Noah, Audric, Koen, Farrah, Tayen, Micah and Ryker; his sister, Ana Antunes; his two sons; his daughter; his granddaughter and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
All services were held privately and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck, CT.
