Waterbury, CT Aurora Carmalina (Garofalo) Ruela, 92, the widow of David Ruela, Jr., her husband of 30 years, died peacefully on October 5, 2024 at The Village at East Farms.

Aurora was born June 3, 1932 in Waterbury, CT daughter of the late Anthony and Bridiga (Bianco) Garofalo. Aurora was raised in Waterbury where she graduated from Wilby High School and she also lived in Woodbury, CT and St. Petersburg, Florida, before recently returning to Waterbury. Aurora work for over 20 years as a CNA at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.

Aurora is survived by her children, Dana Lent (Patricia), David Lent (Kathy) and Valerie Sheldon (Robert); her grandchildren, Tannya Poulter (Devin), Matthew Lent and Holly Wilson (Jim); her great grandchildren, Noah, Audric, Koen, Farrah, Tayen, Micah and Ryker and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Aurora’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff at The Village at East Farms for the love and kindness that they showed to Aurora.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 10:00am at All Saints Parish at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 309 South Main Street, Waterbury. Everyone attending Mass is kindly asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
