Naugatuck, CT Joan Nancy Rossi, age 88, died after a brief stay at Complete Care at Glendale Center on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Joan was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck having grown up on Carroll Street, lived on Laurel Avenue and for the last 3 years, she made her home with her nephew and niece, Raymond and Tamath K. Rossi of Naugatuck.

Joan was born in Naugatuck, CT a daughter of the late Luduvina and Enidis Rossi. Joan was the beloved matriarch of the Rossi family and will be missed by her last surviving sibling, Raymond E. Rossi Sr. of Naugatuck and his wife, Lenore Rossi, her brother-in-law, Brian Howland of Brockton MA. She will forever be remembered with love and many memories by her nieces and nephews: Raymond E. Rossi, Jr and his wife, Tamath, John Rossi and his wife, Carolyn, James Rossi and his wife, Peggi, Nancy Schebell, Thomas Rossi and his wife, Jen, Kevin Howland and his fiance, Laura, Allison Andrade and her husband, Jared Andrade and her many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her brother, Edward Rossi and her baby sister, Lisa (Rossi) Howland.

Joan attended Naugatuck schools and was a graduate of Naugatuck High School where she lettered in basketball. She was a devoted fan of UConn women’s basketball and the New York Yankees. She worked at Rossi Shoes, Uniroyal and retired from the Heminway Corporation of Waterbury. She was an avid golfer and spent many vacations with friends in Hilton Head playing golf. Joan was a faithful parishioner of St. Vincent Ferrer Church and was a past member of the Cristoforo Colombo Ladies Auxiliary. Above all she loved spending time with family, hosting meals and teaching many pasta classes to the younger generation, to ensure the traditions would continue.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00am at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, Those attending are kindly asked to please meet directly at Church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Joan’s memory, donations are requested to St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
