Rosetta McGovern

Rosetta (Brady) McGovern formerly South Yarmouth, MA. passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, at her home in Cheshire. She was the loving wife of Hugh McGovern for 59 years until his death in 2013.

Mrs. McGovern was born November 12, 1929, in the village of Cloone, County Leitrim, Ireland, daughter of the late Michael and Rose Ann (McKiernan) Brady. Rosetta was a member of St. Bridget of Sweden Parish in Cheshire, CT. She spent most of her life caring for others. Her greatest treasures were her children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. She loved her Friday nights at the Irish Village on Cape Cod, her Irish dancing, reading, fun times travelling with Hugh and friends, and spending time at the beach.

Mrs. McGovern is survived by her children, Maureen (Joseph) Vitello and David McGovern (Kim Richards). She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth McGovern (Chuck Collins), her grandchildren, Ryan (Mary) McGovern, Rory (Jillian) McGovern, Joseph (Tyna) Vitello, Michael (Kaitlyn) Vitello and Matthew (Ashli) Vitello. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren, Rose, Ian, Shannon, Connor, Shea, Logan, Thomas, Camryn, and Addison. Besides her husband and parents, Rosetta is also predeceased by her son John, and her siblings; Paddy, MaryEllen, Thomas, Anne, and Michael.

Arrangements: Family and friends may gather on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. The funeral procession will leave at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish/St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Prayers of committal and interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Rosetta’s name, may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Alzheimer's Association.
