CHESHIRE- Mrs. Rosemary Ann (Connell) Eagan, of Waterbury and a former longtime resident of Cheshire, passed away early Thursday morning July 19, 2012 at the VITAS Hospice Unit at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. She was the wife of Dr. Kenneth J. Eagan.
Mrs. Eagan was born in Philadelphia, PA, Feb. 7, 1926, a daughter of the late John and Katherine (Horgan) Connell and moved here following her marriage. She was a graduate of St. Leonard Academy in Philadelphia and was an inaugural graduate of the Certified Dental Assistant program at the University of Pennsylvania. She was employed before and after her marriage, a career she enjoyed for over 60 years and worked alongside her husband in his practice. She had been active in the Cheshire Historical Society and was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast. She was a lifelong fan of all of the Philadelphia professional sports teams and enjoyed early American furnishings and decorative arts. She was a communicant of the Church of the Epiphany.
Besides her husband of 60 years, she leaves three sons, Michael K. Eagan of Bristol, Matthew J. Eagan of Marlboro and Peter J. Eagan and his wife Laurie of Harwinton; two daughters, Eileen Maynard and her husband Stephen of Cheshire, and Sheila J. Eagan and her boyfriend Joseph Rosa of Waterbury; one sister, Joan Storey of Upper Darby, PA; one sister-in-law, Helen Connell of Havertown, PA; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by a brother, John Connell, and a brother-in-law Maurice Story.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 9:15 am from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire and proceed to the Church of the Epiphany, 1750 Huckins Rd. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, July 23, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 pm Burial will private in St. Bridget Cemetery, Cheshire. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 1579 Straits Turnpike, Middlebury, CT 06762.
