Rose Parlock

Rose (Lubera) Parlock, 105, of Cheshire, CT, and formerly of North Andover, MA, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on January 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of 53 years to the late John R. “Bob” Parlock.

Rose was born September 15, 1919, in Olean, NY, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Pajak) Lubera. She was raised in Bayonne, NJ, where she met the “love of her life,” Bob. He loved to say they met in a bar – which was actually Rose’s sister’s ice cream shop. They married in November 1953 and soon began a family of their own. The Parlocks relocated to Georgia and eventually to Massachusetts. Rose and Bob moved to Cheshire in 2005 and became part of the community at Southwick.

Rose’s family and her faith were central to her longevity. Her positive outlook was inspirational, even to people whom she never met who had heard her life story. She was a friend and honorary grandmother to many. Rose was the quintessential homemaker, who took great pride in preparing home-cooked meals which nourished the bodies and souls of her family and friends. She participated in her daughters’ activities when they were growing up, and always had a special place in her heart for children.

Rose is survived by her two daughters, Karen Minkler and her husband, Steven, of Waterbury, CT; and Mary Dash and her husband, Robert, of Plymouth, MA. She is also survived by her three cherished grandchildren, Christina Dash, Rosemary Minkler, and Nicholas Dash, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by her siblings, Stanley (Dorothy) Lubera; Helen (Paul) Mifsud; Anne Lubera; and Sophia (Edmund) Lynch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 12:00pm at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 North Brooksvale Rd., Cheshire. Please meet directly at church. Interment will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery, Wallingford Rd., Cheshire. There are no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, www.shrinerschildrens.org or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.

The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with her arrangements.
